Although Techland continues to support its 2015 release Dying Light more than half a decade since the initial launch, there has yet to be any proper additions to the series. However, a sequel is on the way. In that, Dying Light 2 is close to release as the project has a new release date slated for this February according to the developer.

However, the initial game despite the growing number of platforms has yet to migrate to newer hardware despite the amount of post-launch work for the game. Noted, there is a FPS Boost patch for the game for Xbox Series X|S, but it is not a dedicated port for the platform. Additionally, Techland just this month delivered Dying Light: Platinum Edition to Nintendo Switch which surprised many system owners.

In a new discovery over from Gematsu on Twitter, the last-generation release just recently was found to be rated for Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5. The discovery was made from the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) which shares its page with the Nintendo Switch version as well.

“This is an action-adventure game in which players assume the role of Kyle Crane, a soldier of fortune sent to battle zombies. Players can traverse the open-world environment and attack hordes of zombies in order to complete mission objectives,” the description from the ESRB page reads.

“Players use axes, machetes, rifles, and tools (e.g., firecrackers, Molotov cocktails, electrified blades) to kill enemies in frenetic melee-style combat. Red blood-splatter effects occur frequently; large blood stains can be seen on environment floors/walls. Enemies are frequently dismembered and decapitated during combat; a handful of sequences depict mutilated bodies with exposed organs/viscera.”
