During today’s E3 Nintendo Direct, we finally got a glimpse at the long awaited Animal Crossing titled for Nintendo Switch. Animal Crossing: New Horizons was shown for the very first time through a trailer highlighting this games theme. In New Horizons, you will be dropped on a deserted island through the Nook Inc. Getaway Package, a new endeavor by Tom Nook. On this island, you will start with almost nothing but a tent, and it will be up to you to shape it into whatever you want it to be. A new crafting system is available that lets you create tools, furniture, and more using resources found around your island. Starting off fresh and finding freedom is a common theme in this game, and the New Horizons subtitle is fitting.
On the multiplayer side of things, you will be able to have 8 players in a single island at once, double the limit of 4 from previous iterations. Local play is also a feature allowing you to pass a Joy-Con controller to a friend. You’ll be able to fish, decorate, take up gardening, or talk with your animal neighbors all while enjoying the company of up to 7 other players.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons launches on March 20th, 2020 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
