Just days before Square Enix’s press conference, a teaser from Twitter handle @Outriders posted a video teasing an unannounced title that will be fully revealed at the coming event. In the teaser, the video revealed the awakening of something bigger as the character in the cryostasis pod awakes.

At the time, it was uncertain what type of game we were expecting or even who the developer for the title could be. Reaching the press conference, Square Enix announced Outriders and the studio behind the project to be Bulletstorm developer, People Can Fly.

The title is a drop-in-drop-out, cooperative adventure set in the dark world on Enoch. Players will have the opportunity to create and customize their own outrider and pursue the journey to hunt down the mysterious signal that pinged in the darkest reaches of the game’s world. Creative Director for the game, Bartosz Kmita describes the coming title to be a combination of all previous experience morphed into a new title.

“We’d describe Outriders as a dark, modern shooter built with traditional values” Kmita explains. “We’re creating an experience with a strong story that you can enjoy with your friends or on your own.”

Kmita continues on explaining that the game in the works is planned to keep players involved as much in the game’s story as would the gameplay with the varying weapons and enemies that will be in Outriders. Not much else was presented during the reveal, but People Can Fly promises more will be revealed later this Winter on the title.

Outriders will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in Summer 2020.
