Announced at this year’s PC Gaming Show in Los Angeles, developer Ys Net revealed that the upcoming Shenmue III will in fact be coming to PC, but as an exclusive title to the Epic Games Store.
Just last week it was debunked that the title will not be coming to Xbox One as denounced by publisher Deep Silver via Twitter. Though this knocked Microsoft’s platform out of the picture, this did not mean that PC was exempt either as the user who discovered the Xbox brand in the website’s source could also dig up traces pointing towards Valve’s Steam storefront.
But it seems that was not the case either as we all know now that the game will be dropping on the Epic Games Store, which left many fans and even backers of the title’s Kickstarter angry. Those who donated to the game’s development back in 2015 responded back by demanding refunds from Ys Net’s recent decision.
The developer responded by stating that unfortunate the circumstance is for those who anticipated the game’s release on another platform for PC, refunds will not be honored.
We apologize for the sudden change in platform, however, refunds will not be granted for this change.
The statement by Ys Net only fueled the fire behind Shenmue III as fans have looked towards legal assistance to resolve the matter. Discovering that what the developer did is against the law in the EU and fans could pursue a lawsuit against Ys Net.
Shenmue III will be available for PlayStation 4 and PC on November 19, 2019.
