Although the regular annual releases of Madden, NHL, and FIFA are to arrive from EA Sports this year, publisher Electronic Arts is on a new campaign to deliver new games from its sports simulator brand in the coming future. Previously, the firm unveiled that EA Sports PGA Tour is on the way back with more details to be shared in the approaching months.
However, while 2K is also establishing its own virtual golf video game in similar structure to NBA 2K already, Electronic Arts has to pull strings to draw eyes for its first game back on the map since 2015. In that, the box art for EA Sports PGA Tour reveals that ‘Road to the Masters’ will be an exclusive tournament only available through Electronic Arts’ release.
Now in a new announcement, Electronic Arts shares the game is aimed to ship in 2022. Even more, a collaboration with the U.S. Open on Twitter also reiterates on the titles scheduled release for next year.
“Play the U.S. Open Championship, the greatest challenge in golf, on courses like Torrey Pines and The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, plus the U.S. Amateur Championship. Only in EA Sports PGA Tour. Coming 2022,” says the new overview on the game’s official website.
But, Electronic Arts is not the only publisher pulling exclusive agreements for its coming golf franchise. Previously, 2K has established a partnership to offer Tiger Woods for new releases. Before 2K entered the game in the mid 2000s, Electronic Arts originally had Woods posed for his own exclusive line of annual releases at the time.
Elsewhere, EA Sports also organized a new initiative to bring back college football games. However, while it is not official NCAA making a comeback, the publisher is working with the Collegiate Licensing Co. (CLC) to reinstate college football with EA Sports.
