EA Play 2020: FIFA 21 Announced For October Launch, Cross-Buy Supported Via Dual Entitlement

It was earlier this week that EA Sports officially showcased Madden NFL 21 for its August-slated release. It came as a surprise seeing that Electronic Arts would feature the game ahead of the later scheduled EA Play Live for that coming Thursday. Following that, it was presumed that the publisher would still introduce the next entry for FIFA and possibly even NHL.

And the company did just that, and did it briefly so attention can be maintained on the larger properties that many fans were anticipating from the EA-hosted event. EA Sports during the short segment focused on Madden NFL 21 and the officially arriving FIFA 21 with a glimpse at the next-generation for both titles.

You can watch the trailer in the video below:

Excitingly, EA Sports elsewhere on the game’s website announces that FIFA 21 will also include support for cross-buy for users who decide to migrate to the next-generation hardware. Either Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 – fans will not have to purchase the game twice for the upcoming consoles. Via Dual Entitlement, players can seamlessly migrate to the new consoles without any issues.

EA Sports explains that the offer will only be available until the release of the next installment, FIFA 22 which is expected to arrive a full year after this coming title. However, players who decide to shift to a different family of console will not be able to. “The Dual Entitlement upgrade is only available when you upgrade from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, or Xbox One to Xbox Series X,” the FAQ reads.

The company also emphasizes the same answer for players who decide to transfer their progress to a different platform; it can only be done when migrating from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5 or Xbox One to Xbox Series X. Dual Entitlement will also be supporting players who might decide to return to the preceding console to play FIFA 21 as well, EA Sports shares.

Are you excited for FIFA 21 to arrive later this fall?

FIFA 21 will launch for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 6, 2020.
