EA Responds To Heroes Unlock Outcry, Cuts Costs By 75%

“Change will be a constant in Star Wars Battlefront II”
With Star Wars: Battlefront II making this way to EA Access over the weekend, many have found that the hero unlocking to be outrageously high and should be changed immediately. Even to make its way to be Reddit’s most downvoted comment.
A message from DICE Executive Director John Wasilczyk posted on EA’s Battlefront II blog responding to the sudden problem by reducing prices on hero unlocks.
Stated by Wasilczyk in the post:

Making games great comes from regular tuning. As one example, today we’re making a substantial change based on what we’ve seen during the Play First trial. There’s been a lot of discussion around the amount of in-game credits (and time) it takes to unlock some of our heroes, especially Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Unlocking a hero is a great accomplishment in the game, something we want players to have fun earning. We used data from the beta to help set those levels, but it’s clear that more changes were needed.

So, we’re reducing the amount of credits needed to unlock the top heroes by 75%. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will now be available for 15,000 credits; Emperor Palpatine, Chewbacca, and Leia Organa for 10,000 credits; and Iden at 5,000 credits. Based on what we’ve seen in the trial, this amount will make earning these heroes an achievement, but one that will be accessible for all players.

This commotion sourced primarily from the insane amount of credits required to unlock main heroes. Which could be achieved in two ways: play or pay. Resulting with many players who’ve trialed the game enraged with that even being an option in the game. With EA’s as of recent reputation for having microtransactions in their titles have sickened many fans. And even affects overall progression for titles like Need For Speed: Payback aggressively pushing towards players to them, which you can read in our review we covered for the game.
Star Wars: Battlefront II will be available November 17, 2017 for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.
