Mortal Kombat 1 from NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games has officially released for Xbox Series XlS, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch, but there are still questions about fighters that could have been released in the game. Ed Boon, the co-creator of Mortal Kombat was interviewed by Rolling Stone about the Mortal Kombat series and fighting games in general.

Ed Boon was asked if he was being influenced by modern action cinema and he answered the question revealing John Wick was one of the characters he tried to get into Mortal Kombat.

“I could certainly see the John Wicks of the world… as a matter of fact, that is one of the ones that we tried to get – John Wick – in Mortal Kombat, and we didn’t get it.”

A world where John Wick joins a Mortal Kombat game would excite fans of the series, but sadly the rights seem tough to obtain. Megan Fox was announced as Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1 days before the game released.
