In the ongoing reign that is Elden Ring, the amount of excitement for a game at the start of 2022 was unmatched this January upon its release. So much so that it was not long before determining that the game is the best-selling title for 2022. From gamesindusty.biz head Christopher Dring, the game outperforms the waves made by Destiny predating back to 2014.
Additionally, Bandai Namco reacts to the game’s success when exceeding more than 12 million in sales. As part of the publisher’s response, the firm acknowledges the success with other forms of media as it plans to tackle other mediums as well. It is likely that the game is reference to face transmedia such as television or even film as worded by Bandai Namco Entertainment President & CEO Yasuo Miyakawa.
On Wednesday, Bandai Namco & FromSoftware announce a new free update ‘Colosseum Update’ which welcomes PvP arena battles to the game. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“All three arena types are located in Limgrave, Caelid, and Leyndell, respectively. In each arena, you will be able to participate by touching the statue at the end of the arena door. In each arena, different rules of the arena will be unlocked,” Bandai Namco writes in the latest blog post for the Elden Ring update.
As for the influence of Elden Ring, it has the opportunity to pass for Game of the Year at 2022’s The Game Awards. The game was nominated alongside A Plague Tale: Requiem, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3. You can read the full report by heading here.
