For the most part, no one truly forgotten about FromSoftware’s Elden Ring. Despite the anticipated release of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice which shipped just months prior, it could not overshadow the excitement for the coming project. And now more than a year since the game’s unveiling, fans are still on their seat for the next potential announcement for the game.
However, there is still not much to discuss as of yet. But while that is saddening to hear, FromSoftware does acknowledge the anticipated presence amongst its player base and went to Twitter to reassure that the game is still underway. ” We also greatly appreciate all the enthusiasm and support shown for ‘ELDEN RING’, our next Dark Fantasy Action RPG. We hope you look forward to it,” the team wrote in the tweet.
But oddly enough, Xbox division lead Phil Spencer is the one to disclose some tidbits on the title. He tells GameSpot in an interview that he has hands-on experience with the upcoming game and elaborates with his impression that this is the most ambitious project yet from the Japanese game studio.
As somebody who’s played all of Miyazaki’s games over at least the last decade, this is clearly the most ambitious game that he’s done. I mean, I love his games, but seeing some of the gameplay mechanics stuff that he’s tackling, he and the team are tackling this time, of the setting, working with another creator in terms of story. I love it.
Spencer continues by sharing that while he enjoys plenty of Hidetaka Miyazaki’s work in the past, he is not exactly the best person holding the controller. He goes on to explain that he would take breaks and return to the game excited to talk about his experience with the game director. “I’m a bad player, and then when he [Miyazaki] comes back we’ll have a conversation about things that I think.
“He’s so passionate about what he does. It’s one of the things I just love about getting to work with him on some of these games and seeing them come to our platform.” Recently, Miyazaki spoke briefly on the game’s structure in regards to the story and how the themes overlap the entire experience.
