While not much is to be elaborated on the matter, it is surprising the amount of chatter that continues to echo in regards to the next Battlefield title. While it is undetermined what the next title will be exactly, it is certain that developer DICE is putting the production onto all cylinders. That is backed by the firm’s decision to conclude expansive development for both Battlefield V alongside Star Wars Battlefront II last year.

Atop of that, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson also commented on behalf of the project. Although he only minimally presses on the title, Wilson does tell that the game will be a big test for the next-generation systems. He goes on to tell that the new consoles will be a large driver for the latest Xbox & PlayStation.

Now in the latest earnings call issued by the video game publisher, Electronic Arts continues discussing the future of Battlefield briefly once more. Again, Wilson further expands on the new game with new information.

We’re looking forward to sharing a lot more about our FY22 plans in the months ahead, including our next Battlefield experience, which will mark a return to all-out military warfare. The game takes full advantage of the power of next-generation platforms to bring massive, immersive battles to life with more players than ever before.

Featuring maps with unprecedented scale, the next edition of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, vehicle and weapon combat that the franchise is known for and elevates it to another level. The team is focused and the game is ahead of our internal milestones. We’ll reveal the game in the spring, and deliver a defining Battlefield experience for our players in the 2021 holiday season.

As per fan speculation, many consider the new game to be a return to its roots. Some are convinced that the game is to pursue the Bad Company route with the long-awaited third entry set to arrive this year. However, others are also on the trail for a more definitive, modern approach that we last witnessed with Battlefield 4. But, it is simply conjecture with no official details to confirm the claims.

Throughout all the noise, YouTuber The Long Sensation recently issued a video on the matter revealing that the new game will be returning to its roots with a reboot of the franchise. He continues to disclose that the project will also incorporate elements strongly resembled from Battlefield 3 to be making a return. You can read the full report by heading here.
