As the story continues develop, THQ Nordic and its parent company Embracer Group continues to acquire more studios in the coming future. Most noted from prior purchases, Embracer Group through one purchase acquired 13 game studios including one responsible for SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, Purple Lamp Studios. But, that is only one side of the coin.

More impressively, the parent company in a later arrangement with Gearbox Entertainment welcomed the Borderlands developer as a new subsidiary in a recent merger. Even more, Embracer Group managed to also walked away with the bag carrying Metro series team 4A Games in a previous deal prior to that.

In a new press release from Embracer Group, the firm announces to acquire four more teams including the founding of an additional studio under THQ Nordic also.

Embracer Group AB (“Embracer”) through its subsidiaries THQ Nordic GmbH and Amplifier Game Invest AB have entered into four acquisition agreements to acquire 100% each of Appeal Studios S.A., KAIKO GmbH, Massive Miniteam GmbH and FRAME BREAK AB. In addition, THQ Nordic is today also announcing that it has founded Gate 21 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In accumulated spending power for the purchase, Embracer Group latest motive is said to cost roughly SEK 71 million. However, the acquisitions planned if fulfilled with the inclusion for shares of the company could result in a larger price tag of SEK 124 million ultimately, the firm explained.

Most intriguing is the inevitable purchase for Kaiko: the developer is recognized for developing remastered releases for THQ Nordic such as Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered, Legend of Kay Anniversary, Darksiders: Warmastered, Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition, and Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning.
