Epic Games Shutters Online Servers For More Than A Dozen Games This Month

When it comes to Epic Games, the firm has remained the epicenter for some of the most popular online titles. This includes the ever so popular Fortnite, Psyonix’s Rocket League, and even Mediatonic’s Fall Guys. The roster only grows with its recent acquisition of Harmonix just last year as well now. So the firm is entertaining the idea to being a titan when it comes to live-service titles.

However, that is not the same to say everything will last forever. At least, for some projects released prior for its acquisitions. Recently, the Rock Band developer announced its recent entry Fuser will be shuttering its online services in December. And it appears that this trend will reach to other Harmonix titles alongside even some legacy Epic Games releases as well.

According to a recent blog post from the publisher, there are more than a dozen titles that will be dismantling its online servers this month. You can read the full list below:

1000 Tiny Claws
Dance Central 1-3
Green Day: Rock Band
Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess
Rock Band 1-3
The Beatles: Rock Band
Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars
Unreal Gold
Unreal II: The Awakening
Unreal Tournament 2003
Unreal Tournament 2004
Unreal Tournament 3
Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition

“We will begin turning off out-of-date online services and servers for many older games in the Epic family as we move to solely support Epic Online Services with its unified friends system, voice chat features, parental controls, and parental verification features. Most titles will be playable offline, while some will no longer be playable. We apologize to the players affected by these changes,” the blog post adds in from Epic Games.

Additionally, there are a few games still remaining. The list does highlight that Rock band 4 multiplayer & Dance Central VR are to remain alongside resurrecting Unreal Tournament 3 via Epic Online Services in the future. Furthermore, Hatoful Boyfriend, Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star, and DropMix were delisted from respected platforms. The same will for Battle Breakers  on December 30th followed by Unreal Tournament (Alpha), Rock Band Blitz, Rock Band Companion app and SingSpace come January 24th.
