Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch could be said by many of the fans that played the game during its initial launch does not hold the same fanbase to continue returning to the game leading into nearly 2020, and while there are still dedicated players actively playing the game still, it is not to like the monumental amount of users as prior. Already aware that the developer is working to create a sequel for the action online first-person shooter, some information has prematurely leaked ahead of this year’s Blizzcon.

Reported from sources who spoke with ESPN, Overwatch 2 is said to feature PvE game mechanics along with the addition of one new map and Hero to be revealed at the annual event.

Going into detail surrounding the new gameplay feature, the document obtained by the sports network reveals that the PvE mode will focus on a story-focused experience set in Rio de Janeiro: breaking the traditional 6v6 formula for a four-player structure is also said to be implemented for the mode according to the document. However, this is only said for one of the missions when reported by ESPN, so familiar player layout could be expected for other campaign experiences potentially.

Moving away from the story portion of Overwatch 2, ESPN shares that a new game mode will finally be added to the series which is a first since the game’s release back in 2015. Revealing “Push” to be the new mode, a synopsis on or brief statement to give further detail on the game type was not provided from the document. However, it was shared that a map based in “Toronto” will also be added with the mode’s reveal.

In trust of the document ESPN was provided with, they also report to expect the new mode to be playable at Blizzcon later this week: the same can be said for the unnamed map also. ESPN then went on the share their confidence that a new Hero will likely be revealed alongside all the content that was leaked from the document.

While rumors and/or leaks are exciting to get our heads looking in a direction, it should be noted that this has yet to properly be announced by Blizzard Or Activision. ESPN did went out of their way to get a comment from the developer, but has yet to receive a comment. Seeing that the network is owned by Disney who partnered with Blizzard to host the Overwatch League on ESPN, this could give a sturdy foundation for the information to potentially be legitimate.

What are your thoughts on this possible leak of information for Overwatch 2?
