Following the reception of Fallout 76 since the game’s release two weeks ago, it seems there’s more problems that have emerged for Bethesda Game Studios related to the game’s Collector’s Edition.
Recently a fan who purchased the $200 Power Armor Edition discovered that the advertised ‘Canvas West Tek Duffle Bag’ rather than coming in the material stated in the item’s title, was instead made with a cheaper nylon material. As many Collector’s Editions tend to have an lesser desirable outcome once being mass produced; for this situation though it’s more than a simple production mishap.
User ‘AlexanderDLarge’ on Reddit posted his experience of the discovery with images of the bag and email response from Bethesda towards the situation. “We are sorry that you aren’t happy with the bag, the bag shown in the media was a prototype and was too expensive to make. We aren’t planning to do anything about it.”
Succeeding the situation, Bethesda has made a statement regarding the less helpful and assuring response expected regarding the promised canvas bag for the Collector’s Edition:
“The Bethesda Store’s Support member is a temporary contract employee and not directly employed by Bethesda or Bethesda Game Studios. We apologize to the customer who took the time to reach out. The support response was incorrect and not in accordance with our conduct policy. Unfortunately, due to unavailability of materials, we had to switch to a nylon carrying case in the Fallout 76: Power Armor Edition. We hope this doesn’t prevent anyone from enjoying what we feel is one of our best collector’s editions.”
Bethesda also made the issue present on Twitter by offering those who faced the same problem with 500 Atoms (Fallout 76’s in-game currency) which is about $5 in real time currency.
We understand and respect that there is disappointment with the bag in the Power Armor Edition. We are sorry. Please contact Bethesda Support to provide proof of your CE purchase. They will assist in granting your account 500 Atoms.

Which still left many fans unsatisfied with how the publisher decided to deal with the situation. The latest installment for the Fallout franchise has been on the roughest passage for the series and it seems to only continue to get rougher only weeks since the game launched. With many bugs present in the base title with a patch due to release the size of half of the download client, and still more due to come this December, Bethesda will have to work continuously to regain their audience’s trust in hope to make 76 a desirable title.
Fallout 76 is available now for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
