Far Cry 5 Sold Nearly 50% More Than Its Predecessor With High Sales Anticipated For The Sequel, Ubisoft Earnings Call Shares

Rewinding back to 2018 with the release of Far Cry 5, the game presented to push the proprietary Dunia Engine to the max even on current console hardware at the time. And it is anticipated that the project is to be a catalyst for what Far Cry 6 is to offer when that game arrives. Previously, Ubisoft scheduled to game to release back in February of this year.

However, the publisher decided to scrap its release. In addition, Far Cry 6 was pushed to Q1/Q2 2021 alongside the long-awaited release for Rainbow Six Quarantine. At the time of writing, there is still no details as to when either titles are anticipated to release.

But during the recent Ubisoft conference call, the firm is ecstatic with the performance of its release in 2018. While not mentioning the spin-off based on Far Cry 5, Far Cry: New Dawn, Ubisoft does assert its impression on the performance of Far Cry 5. In that, the game sold 45 percent more than 2014’s Far Cry 4. The call was transcribed by @BenjiSales on Twitter.

With the sales for Far Cry 5 overtaking its predecessor nearly 50 percent, Ubisoft shares to be projecting even higher sales for the game. Not to mention the casting for the game as well which includes Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian) and Anthony Gonzalez (Coco) to star as the leading roles for the dictatorship for the game’s setting, Yara.

Ubisoft also goes to remark that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is still one of the highest performing entries to date for the franchise. Following the game’s release back in November, Ubisoft pressed that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla already performed twice what 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey gathered in terms of sales.

Elsewhere in regards to Far Cry 6, there is a prequel comic on the way from Dark Horse Comics. The plot is said to include previous antagonists including Vaas Montenegro, Pagan Min, and Joseph Seed. You can read the full report by heading here.
