Filming For Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Film Said To Start Soon For March 2021

Although the year felt like it took forever to pass through, it should be noted that 2020 kicked off very strong before the downfall of the inflicted COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the year welcomed the box office success that is Sonic the Hedgehog. Despite the controversy of the production regarding the model for the titular protagonist, the movie was received to be more successful than 2019’s Detective Pikachu.

And, of course, that also suggests more projects are to result from the reception of the film. In May, Variety reported that a follow-up for Sonic the Hedgehog already began, but when to expect the movie was not issued. That was until voice actor for Sega’s Blue Blur Ben Schwartz offered on Twitter that the sequel is set to arrive in April 2022.

Now in a new unearthing over on Creative BC Film Commission website, it is suggested filming is set to begin for the second movie in March 2021. However, the production is going under a different alias, Emerald Hill. The level is most recognized for its association with 1992’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

For more details on the production itself, the listing tells that filming will officially commence on March 15, 2021 and will proceed to do so until May 10, 2021. Other details solidifying the project being the Sonic the Hedgehog sequel is the direct involvement of director Jeff Fowler alongside producers Neal H. Moritz and Nan Morales.

Looking ahead beyond the coming sequel, it is concluded that there will be more than two films to manifest from the current Sonic the Hedgehog film.
