Alongside Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles that was announced to be coming to major platforms later this Winter, publisher Square Enix also revealed that 1999’s Final Fantasy VIII will be receiving a remastered port which will arrive at a later time.
Since that announcement, fans of the original PlayStation title sat patiently until Square Enix was ready to reveal the game’s upcoming release date. Which leads to a recent announcement from the publisher that discloses the remaster’s launch to be coming in a little less than a week away.
In a new trailer, Square Enix reveals that the 20 year-old title will be coming to the current line of hardware in the first week of September. Atop of the beefed up resolution for the approaching title, Square Enix shared that there will be other gameplay customizable features such as battle assist options , game speed boost, and the ability to have no random encounters in your playthrough.
In other news regarding the Final Fantasy franchise, Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda disclosed in a interview at this year’s E3 that the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake could potentially be releasing on the next wave of consoles seeing that the game will expand into the next generation as it is releasing in three parts.
