While many fans await the next part for the Final Fantasy VII Remake, Square Enix has been finishing up on the approaching expansion for Final Fantasy XIV – Endwalker. Announced earlier in 2021, the new add-on for the game comes with details on the PlayStation 5 version then as well. Originally, the DLC was slated for November, but the team decided to postpone it until December.

“There are several reasons for the postponement, but as I’m the one overseeing all aspects of the title as the head of the project, the responsibility falls solely on me. Allow me to convey my sincerest apologies to our players, our Warriors of Light around the world who have been looking so forward to the release of Endwalker. I am truly sorry,” Naoki Yoshida, Final Fantasy XIV Producer & Director wrote then.

However, the game was later slated to arrive for December 7th more optimized for PlayStation 4, PC and the new PlayStation 5 version as well. You can watch the launch trailer in the video below:

Recently, Final Fantasy XIV took the responsibility of overtaking World of Warcraft as the most played MMO. And with congestion becoming an issue for the game ahead of Endwalker, Square Enix wanted to ensure a smooth transition for the expansion which answers for the abrupt delay in November, Yoshida added.

“At this rate, there was a bigger risk of us reaching the release date without ensuring “stability” as one form of quality, and for that reason, I have decided to postpone the release at this time. As we also anticipate large amounts of congestion across all game Worlds, I felt that even in this respect it wouldn’t be right for us to release the expansion while lacking adequate “stability.” I am truly sorry.”
