First-Person Platformer Metamorphosis Release Date Landing On August 12

Looking for what to play this summer, developer Ovid Works would bring you to a microscopic size to experience its coming action-platformer, Metamorphosis. In the shoes of Gregor, he soon discovers that he was shrunken into an insect and must explore this new terrain to discover how this came to be. The plot of the project follows closely to the titular story from prolific Austrian author, Franz Kafka.

This past April, publisher All In! Games shared a new trailer for the title unveiling that the new project is set to arrive this coming summer. However, at that time the firm did not spare a specified release date or moth for that matter on the game’s launch in the coming months. But now, the company has returned to announce that Metamorphosis will be launching in mid August.

You can watch the new release date trailer in the video below:

“You wake up one morning to find that you are rather inconveniently transforming into a tiny bug, while your friend Joseph is being arrested for reasons unknown,” the synapse on the game’s Steam page shares. “To save him and to find the answers you seek, you must embark on a journey through a world which, like yourself, has become twisted and unfamiliar.

“What once seemed like mundane dwellings have become an expansive obstacle course, and now you’ll have to chart your path through the dingy nooks and crannies that exist within the cracks of civilization.” Players will have to utilize the abilities only equipped with insects to overcome the new obstacles ahead. That also includes the ability to scale structures with sticky appendages and figure out puzzling passages.

During PAX East last year, Rectify Gaming got to demo Metamorphosis and learn more about the conception of the project and the team’s interest to pursue this unique perspective in storytelling. You can read the full feature by heading here.
