The Five Nights At Freddy’s movie has officially been released in the movie theaters and on Peacock as of October 27, 2023, but many critics aren’t too fond of the film. The movie is based on the Five Nights at Freddy’s video game that was released in 2014 where your objective is to survive five nights at this abandoned arcade that features Freddy Fazbear.

Review for the film dropped ahead of release and it’s safe to say no one is pleased with the PG-13 rating as it limits to how “scary” you can make it. From the Associated Press, Mark Kennedy shares that “Five Nights at Freddy’s has to go down as one of the poorest films in any genre this year.” Giving it a 0 out of 4.

Justin Clark from Slant Magazine also says “Five Nights at Freddy’s has absolutely no idea what kind of ride it wants to be.” Clark gave the film a 1.5 out of 4.

As it stands for now the rating on Rotten Tomatoes is currently sitting at 27% with 77 reviews and it’s possible it could go down further. The Audience Score remains blank since the movie only just came out.

It was confirmed that Five Nights At Freddy’s was going to solely be a PG-13 movie with no plans for an R-rated version.
