Five Nights At Freddy’s Movie To Hit Theaters This Halloween

The ongoing story surrounding the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie has been a developing tale before COVID-19. Rewinding back to 2018, creator Scott Cawthone shared the story crafted for this featured film needed to be perfect or would never be realized – which explains the amount of time we’ve waited. Additionally, the original director Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone) departed from the role which left the production in a worried state for many fans.

Amid developments on the movie since then, it was revealed by Blumhouse’s Jason Blum that Jim Henson’s Creature Shop will be responsible for the animatronics. Additionally, Emma Tammi (The Wind, Into The Dark) would take the new helm in the directors chair as filming commenced in February earlier this year. Not to mention casting for Matthew Lillard (Scream, Scooby-Doo) and Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games, The Bee Keeper) to lead in the new series as well.

From Jason Blum once more on Twitter, he reveals that the first film is to hit theaters this October just days ahead of Halloween later this fall. A screenshot from the official shoot was also provided as well which you can view above.

Blumhouse Productions is continuing its involvement with more video game adaptations outside of Five Nights at Freddy’s. In a separate announcement, it was revealed that Blumhouse, James Wan’s Atomic Monsters, and Behaviour Interactive will be developing a Dead by Daylight movie. Details on casting or a release date has yet to be shared.

The production firm is also planning to expand into its own games as well. Announcing Blumhouse Games, the film studio aims to develop smaller-scale titles with budgets around $10 million. The new studio crowns former Bethesda veteran Zach Wood as its president alongside former PlayStation executive Don Sechler. You can read the full report by heading here.
