Although the Five Nights at Freddy’s series is left to ambiguity for future installments, the home style formula that the franchise is founded on is expected to remain. So when it was revealed that creator Scott Cawthon is involved in a AAA project centered around Five Nights at Freddy’s, it came as a surprise that a major approach to the simple structure of the game could be overhauled to meet the standard from major publishers.
That wasn’t until this past summer that Steel Wool Studios unveiled Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach. Given the light coverage of the game leading to a follow-up trailer presented by Sony Interactive Entertainment, players only have a brief understanding of the game. The same can also be said for its release window too.
Despite what is unknown currently, Cawthon in a recent statement issues that Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach is scheduled to arrive by the year’s end.
As you all know, Security Breach was originally planned to come out at the end of 2020, but as we kept working on it and kept adding to it, it just kept getting bigger and bigger and needed more time to finish. And now, again, I’ve made the decision to put more time and money into it to make sure it’s finished properly, and that means a late 2021 release instead of an early 2021 release like I had originally wanted. It will be worth it!
While Cawthon is surely involved with the biggest release for Five Nights at Freddy’s yet, he is to also supervise for a majority of smaller, fan-made games as well. In a new initiative revealed last year, Cawthon even pledges to help fund these new games that are being conjured by the active community cultivated by his creation.
On Friday, Cawthon released the free DLC, Ultimate Custom Night for consoles. While originally available for PC since 2018, console players can now readapt their experience to any of the animatronics from other games now too. You can read the full report by heading here.
