Fortnite was one of the big stories of 2018 especially for its esports scene having multiple skirmish’s at PAX West and TwitchCon. Today, Epic have announced the Fortnite World Cup and it will have $100,000,000 in competitive prize pool for the entire year of 2019.

Leading to the Fortnite World Cup there will be ten weekly online open qualifiers running from April 13 to June 16. Each week will have $1,000,000 on the line for eligible Fortnite players, with payouts being distributed broadly. The Fortnite World Cup Finals will have the top 100 solo players and top 50 duo teams from around the world in New York City July 26-28 with a $30 million prize pool. Each player competing is guaranteed $50,000 and the solo champion will walk away with $3,000,000.

There will be even more ways to win money, so they’ll have $1,000,000 in cash tournaments weekly through the entire year. These tournaments will feature more variety of modes and formats to open up the competitive field.

That’s a lot of money for the popular Battle Royale title which was introduced to new competition in Apex Legends recently, but it should be a fun year for Fortnite Esports for sure.
