Game Studio Full Circle Established By Electronic Arts To Develop Upcoming Skate Game

After more than a decade of requesting and continuing to pester publisher Electronic Arts, the firm finally caved as a new Skate game is on its way. While developer Black Box, an EA subsidiary, closed its doors in 2013, the publisher issued that a new Cuz Perry and Deran Chung will both be involved with the development of the new project. But, details on what team is to be responsible were left unanswered.

Now entering 2021 with information to be expected on the title sometime later on, Electronic Arts announces the founding of a new studio – Full Circle. Based in Vancouver, Canada, the new studio is in fairly close driving distance from the original Burnaby team that was EA Black Box. “We’re working on the next evolution of Skate, and set to deliver an experience that will embrace and build upon everything our community found special about the previous games,” the description on the team’s website reads.

Daniel McCulloch, Full Circle General Manager, spoke with VentureBeat following the studio being established going public elaborated further on the intentions of the team.

The fans wished Skate back into existence, and we want them to feel involved in the process from development to game launch and beyond. We want them to feel like they are a part of Full Circle.

We’re all about having fun and making great games that people want to play with their friends. And, we’re looking for more developers to help us build compelling worlds for players to explore.

In the past, we also witnessed a similar approach for another notable video game franchise. Over at 2K, the publisher founded Cloud Chamber: the team is to be a dedicated team currently focusing on a new entry for the Bioshock series that Irrational Games left after ceasing operations in 2017. But, it looks that Full Circle is aiming to make more than just Skate perhaps.

Gathered from McCulloch’s statement, Full Circle is reaching out for more hirings to develop and “build compelling worlds” which is insinuated to be more than just the skateboarding simulator. With prospects still unclear as for Skate currently, the speculation will remain as conjecture for the time being.
