Genshin Impact Launches For PlayStation 5 On Wednesday, April 28th

While major AAA titles still depend on $60, full price releases, there is an influx of titles that continue to churn impressive progress as production stagnates at big developers, but the games are free-to-play. In the past week or so, both Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone prove to be a classic example of the business model as the pair now welcomes more than 100 million users since each’s respective inception.

However, another notable release that proves similar results, but also cultivated a larger audience over in mainland China is Genshin Impact. With its multi-platform release on most major consoles and even mobile, there is a bevy of players that continue to sign-in daily for the ongoing experience.

Of course, releases do not cease for one system as newer iterations arrive. In a recent announcement from developer miHoYo, Genshin Impact is receiving a PlayStation 5 version. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:

“We are extremely excited to announce that a native version of Genshin Impact for PlayStation 5 will be released on April 28,” Zhenzhong Ti, miHoYo Studio Technical Director announces. “With native support for PlayStation 5 comes 4K resolution, enhanced textures, and faster loading times.”

For those looking to get their feet wet for Genshin Impact on PlayStation 5 later this week, we suggest you read our First Impressions for the game. Our critic Michael Merchant writes, “Genshin Impact is one of the best free to play experiences on console that I have ever played; however, it is bogged down by antiquated gacha game mechanics.

“For every five features that the game does absolutely right, there is one glaring issue that keeps the game from reaching its max potential.” He concludes by stating, “There is a lot to Genshin Impact that I haven’t explained as this is just an impression piece, but I truly do love the time I have spent with it and I really hope they make these quality-of-life changes to keep me invested in it!” You can read the full piece by heading here.
