The upcoming roster of announcements concerning this year’s Game Awards are beginning to unravel as host Geoff Keighley has shared yet another project that will be present during the awards show. While not specifically giving away what this new project might be about or the genre it will stand under, there is plenty to dissect from his wording.
On Twitter, Keighley posted an image of the game teasing which illustrates to be a lot literal symbolism as the souls of the fallen actually form a flower above the masses of corpses from an unspecified battle. You can view the tweet below:
Again, there is not a lot to go by this post that the awards show host made today. However, through his use of the word “Souls” and the emphasis of the capitalization does give a heavy implication that the game will share a likeness to FROMSoftware’s Soul’s series. Upon digging more into the game, a Twitter account for the game has been created which provides a separate image that could help users understand more of the basis for the title.
Just viewing the image alone, the one used in the header, there are seven counted characters in the full image. Guessing the significance of these diverse individuals could suggest that each will be playable with their own combat system based on the weapon of choice. Or even to go to the extent that this might be a multiplayer experience, like what Ubisoft Montreal has with For Honor.
The Twitter account also hashtagged the developer for the game, 24 Entertainment, alongside publisher NetEase Games. However, searching for any history of this developer will not bring any decisive information, which dictates that this will be the first project for the game studio.
What do you think this new game might be?
The Game Awards will go live at 5:30 PM PST / 8:30 PM EST on December 12, 2019.
