After the glowing reception for Santa Monica Studios’ God of War in 2018 as the title was crowned Game of the Year at the time, it is easily guessed the Sony Interactive Entertainment studio would continue with a follow-up for the new direction of the franchise. In July, it was rumored a reveal would take place in August at a suspected PlayStation State of Play, however, the reveal never materialized despite the showcase being real.

Instead, it wasn’t until mid September during the second PlayStation 5 showcase that Sony Interactive Entertainment officially announced God of War Ragnarok. While much is not told, the game is forecasted to arrive next year in 2021 for PlayStation 5, at least. For now, the game is still not entirely ruled out for a PlayStation 4 version.

That was until the most recent interview with Sony Interactive Entertainment CRO & President Jim Ryan who responded unusually about the game’s uniqueness to PlayStation 5. When questioned on the game being exclusive to the next-generation machine, he responds: “Sorry. I’ve got nothing to say about that today”.

However, when it comes to other bombastic sequels for the platform, such as Horizon: Forbidden West, Sony Interactive Entertainment already disclosed the game to be a cross-generation title. So it comes odd to learn that Ryan would not reference if the game is available on both systems or not. But it does held determine where the remaining PlayStation 5 titles will land.

In the recent PlayStation 5 launch trailer last week, Sony Interactive Entertainment projected Gran Turismo 7, Retrunal, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart to ship sometime in early 2021. The remaining Horizon: Forbidden West and now God of War Ragnarok is expected to arrive in the latter parts of next year. While nothing is verified for the God of War follow-up, it is encouraged the title will close out the following year.

In the same interview, Ryan also presses on his approval for a $70 price for , Sony Interactive Entertainment-published titles. While not all games are ensured to face the same price, more is expected to arrive for PlayStation 5. You can read the full report by heading here.
