Already, PlayStation 5 users can nitpick some of the niché advantages unique to the next-generation platform. For one, the system can significantly reduce load times for last-generation titles thanks to the powerhouse SSD installed. Additionally, the same titles also withstand new enhancements that the intended hardware the respected game released on previously.

In that, elements such as a silky smooth 60 frames per second, detailed 4K output resolution, HDR support, and even raytracing compatibility are what the standard of owning the latest PlayStation will incorporate. Now, Santa Monica Studios’ God of War (2018) will be joining the club. In a new blog post issued on Monday, the developer revealed that the title is to receive new additions to the game on PlayStation 5.

The Game of the Year recipient is already a PlayStation Plus Collection title, so majority of users that pay for the online subscription service on PlayStation 5 can embark on this new, next-gen experience starting today.

Our team has been working on a video graphics mode option that will enable players to get the most out of the increased performance capabilities of the PlayStation 5. […] We will be releasing a free patch that replaces the current video graphics mode option with a new default setting that will offer the best of both performance and resolution to our PlayStation 5 players!

You can go back to the original PlayStation 4 ‘Favor Resolution’ video graphics mode at any time by selecting Original Performance Experience, which will offer 4K Checkerboard Resolution* synced to 30 FPS.

Today as well, developer Massive Entertainment also shipped a next-generation update for The Division 2. In that title update for the open-world third-person shooter, players can also expect similar enhancements with double the amount of frames per second, dynamic 4K, and other touch ups to rework the engine from its initial release.

As of recently in regards to God of War, the follow-up ‘Ragnarok’ is suggested to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. When interviewed in November, Sony Interactive Entertainment President & CEO Jim Ryan told The Telegraph he would not comment on the expected platform for the coming title.
