For Nintendo Switch Online, the concept that owners can revisit some of the most nostalgia-fueled titles from Nintendo’s repertoire is absolutely a seller for those on the fence for the service. For more convincing, users can also enjoy access to playing online atop of the NES & SNES virtual libraries. It was in October 2021 that the firm introduced the Nintendo 64 & Sega Genesis virtual libraries to the mix.
Not only did it answer to the cries to play some of Nintendo’s most hallmark entries in its existence, but it also went an extra step in collaboration with Sega. But, there is still a void in terms of the games available then. In September 2022, it was confirmed titles like Pokémon Stadium, Mario Party, and Goldeneye 007 will arrive to the service.
On Wednesday, it was announced Goldeneye 007 will hit Xbox Game Pass via Rare Replay on January 27th. Atop of that, the same date is also scheduled for the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack as well. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“Enter a world of espionage as Bond in GoldenEye 007. Your covert operation to stop the GoldenEye weapon satellite spans the globe – you’ll infiltrate underground bases, charge through a military train and slink around the depths of a jungle. Along the way, M will brief you on your objectives and Q Branch will support your efforts with an array of gadgets, but the ultimate success of this mission is yours alone,” the description reads from the press release.
Additionally, what brings significance to the Nintendo Switch version is the multiplayer which is surprisingly absent from the Xbox version. “Save the day, then go for the gold in spy-vs-spy action locally** or online in the four-player multiplayer mode and enjoy round after round of first-person competitive action.” It is evident Nintendo has the last say when displaying the trademark information on Goldeneye 007 at the end of the trailer.
