One of the most notable selling pitches for Stadia is the amount of power that is backed by the stream-based platform. Instead of players having to rely on tangible console hardware to do the work, Stadia owners can play off the cloud-processing servers over at Google without taking up any space in their living room. Advertising for resolution output of 4K with ensured 60 frames per second performance, it was too good to be true.
And that actually happened to be the case unfortunately. Following the release of Stadia back in November, it was reported that many properties available on the platform did not meet these metrics when in action. Instead the titles would perform as you would expect from base Xbox or even PlayStation at the beginning of the console generation. Google went to share that this is due to the developer not being capable of aching the said potential of Stadia.
Regardless of what was said then, a new report rolled out sharing the 4K streaming is finally enroute to Stadia owners now. According to 9to5Google, users on Reddit have encountered support for the resolution framework when checking their connection on the Stadia application.
One interesting aspect is that despite the expected limitations that would arrive to the newly support implementation, Stadia supports ranging internet speeds. Disclosed from the images, users can run 4K streaming on “Excellent”, “Good”, and even “OK” internet brackets. High resolution streaming is the latest addition as 4K was initially available only through using Stadia on Chromecast Ultra.
In light of the new feature for Stadia, Stadia Games and Entertainment Head Jade Raymond announced a new division in Playa Vista, California. Raymond revealed that industry veteran Shannon Studstill will be operating the newly founded studio. You can head here to read the full report.
