Tech giant Google showed to be more than ready in taking on the video game market with Stadia back in November with a proper press conference, livestreamed presentations, and advertising at events & online ahead of its mid November-scheduled launch. However, it looks that Stadia only scratched the surface of the market according to a report from Sensor Tower.

According to gamesindustry.biz that projected the report from the mobile market data analyst outlet, only about 175,000 users downloaded the Stadia mobile app. While you might think that this is only a companion app for the platform, this is more than that. Actually, the application is the primary source for all Stadia users to access the storefront to download supported titles and stream to other devices like Chromecast for televisions.

So while the app for smart phones does show to be the only source of how many people use Stadia as of now, it is only a loose estimate for the overall number of Stadia owners as anyone can download the app: Google has yet to release the metrics for units sold following Stadia’s release last month.

In the report, Sensor Tower discloses that more than 90 percent, 90.7% exactly, have downloaded the Stadia mobile app on Android. While the remainder of downloads were done through Apple’s iOS-supported devices. Knowing that Google is a front-footer in the Android market with Chorme –supported smart phones and their own line of Chrome-founded Pixel phones, it is not surprising seeing the majority leans towards the market that Google already caters towards.

As for region downloads, Sensor Tower reveals that about 41 percent of downloads for the smart phone app was done in the U.S. The remaining 59 percentile has not been disclosed regarding what regions follows the United States in Stadia app downloads.

Noted once again, this is only a rough estimate of where Google currently stands with the overall launch of Stadia leading up to present. Now entering December, Google might possibly release the overall sale numbers inching close to the first month mark for Stadia. If not, then a safe bet would be during the annual fiscal year report sometime later on in 2020.

Did you pick up Stadia since launch?
