Xbox Game Studios’ 343 Industries continues to deliver on its promise to bring the full package of Halo: The Master Chief Collection to PC with the latest addition coming next week. Yesterday, Microsoft teased that potential new information will be revealed at “tomorrow morning oclock” when responding to Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins’ nostalgia trip from when competing professionally in Halo.
Now today, 343 Industries officially made the announcement to confirm that Halo 2 Anniversary will arriving to both Steam and Windows 10 next Tuesday on May 12. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
Despite the wait that seemed like forever when The Master Chief Collection was to debut with Halo Reach back in December, progress on following entries were not too torturous as Halo: Combat Evolved shipped just this past March. So it is expected that whenever Halo 3 finally lands for PC, it will be sometime this coming summer if the development pattern continues to be consistent.
For user who might not be familiar with the significance of Halo 2 Anniversary, the game happened to be the ultimate selling point for Halo: The Master Chief Collection back in 2014. However, due to the plaguing issues at the time, the game fell underwhelmingly alongside the anthology of games for the Halo franchise. Unlike the current predecessor, Halo 5: Guardians, Halo 2 Anniversary holds to be the definitive Halo entry for modern hardware for fans of the traditional gameplay elements.
Alike with Halo Reach and Halo: Combat Evolved, it is expected that Halo 2 Anniversary will be joined by cross-play support between both PC versions alongside cross-save as well if you decide to jump to the other side. It is expected that a new Development Update will be released in the coming days to share more details on the approaching release.
