Although the future of Halo Infinite was initially perceived optimistic at the time of its release back in December, there is a different notion surrounding the title’s post-launch plans now more than half a year later. In April last month, 343 Industries officially mapped out the schedule for the coming additions to Halo Infinite for the entirety of 2022. That includes the long-awaited co-op campaign mode, Forge Mode, and a mission select feature for the single-player campaign.
In a separate Community Livestream held by the team, Head of Creative Joe Staten explained the reasoning for the slow churning for new content. He expressed that the need to address pressing issues affecting the gameplay is more dire to resolve than dishing out a six-month season – despite not being a fan of the decision. Elsewhere, we also learned recently that Halo Infinite’s spotlight add-on so far is Microsoft’s Clippy as a featured cosmetic.
This week, Halo Infinite turns it up a notch with its first Fractured for Season 2 – Lone Wolves with Entrenched. You can watch the gameplay trailer in the video below:
“The Entrenched Fracture is a world scoured by superscience aether-bombs and alchemically-enhanced soldiers. Though its lands are ruined, the Unified Nations Security Confederation fights on in blind obedience to orders from long-dead generals,” 343 Industries writes for the event’s description.
“Their sworn foes, the zealots of the Covenant, survive only as hordes of rad-poisoned mutants bickering over the remnants of their once-proud civilization. Survival on the front lines requires Eaglestrike energized plate, a marvel of war-smithing that protects against both radiation and Covenant plasmatron weaponry.” Alike Tenrai in Season 1, Entrenched will ship in five parts with emphasis on a new passage dubbed ‘Story Shards’; this week focusing on the Sky Marshal.
Of course, there is a new tier system with over 30 different awards to obtain as you progress in the coming weeks. Additionally, Land Grab is the new game mode to be welcomed to Halo Infinite with the event. “Divide the enemy, conquer the zone,” the overview reads for Land Grab from the post.
Previously, it was confirmed by Bloomberg Tech’s Jason Schreier that Halo Infinite’s initial gameplay plans glazed over the possibility of being a hero-based mechanism. But like we know now, the firm centered its focus on the arena gameplay we are all familiar with. You can read the full report by heading here.
