Halo Infinite To Support Cross-Play & Cross-Progression At Launch Between Console And PC, Developer Verifies

While 2020 certainly was not the year for 343 Industries’ Halo Infinite evidently, 2021 proves to be a better contender for the game studio most recently these past few months with the additional time placed for development. In the latest ‘Inside Infinite’, the developer pressed on the impact that audio holds for the next Halo title and elaborates on how minor tweaks audibly goes a long way for the overall experience.

As for the long-term for Halo Infinite, competitive esports is a priority. During the first week of April, Halo Esports Lead Tahir “Tashi” Hasandjekic shared that the first venue for the new competitive league is already booked. More details on how esports will be incorporated is told to be elaborated further upon later this summer.

As for how Halo Infinite is to operate traditionally, cross-play was virtually confirmed already by Microsoft in the initial listing for the game. But in a new update on Thursday, the Xbox company verifies there will be cross-platform play with the incorporation of cross-progression between console & PC as well.

We know many of you play across more than just your PC, including on Xbox and mobile. That’s why we’re excited to announce Halo Infinite will support multiplayer cross-play and cross-progression when it releases later this year. That means if you’re playing on PC, you can play with your friends on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It also means that your multiplayer customization and progress will follow you across all platforms.

In addition to the clarification, the Xbox Wire post also informs on the presence that Halo Infinite will directly have on PC as this will be the first title to ship on the platform alongside console.

“We have been working closely with the PC community to ensure that Halo Infinite offers a premier PC experience, including highly desired features such as support for ultrawide and super ultrawide screens, triple keybinds, a wide variety of advanced graphics options and more. We want to make sure that Halo is serving the PC community.”

From the additional statement, Microsoft happens to reiterate on an update from 343 Industries earlier on. In that, the game studio disclosed its ambitions to make Halo Infinite for PC as immersive as those found it on console more than a decade prior. Additionally, proactive testing was continually tossed around during the update as well.

As for an understanding for when the game launches, it is suggested that Halo Infinite will launch sometime in November. Although not set in stone, the claim is carried by speculation that the game is to release on the 20th anniversary for the franchise. You can read the full report by heading here.
