HBO Confirms The Last Of Us TV Series Won’t Arrive Until 2023

For more than nearly a decade, possibly more, fans from the PlayStation spectrum await promises for some of its largest IPs to be translated to film. However, the most fans witnessed since whispers of a film for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us and Uncharted is Ratchet & Clank which hit theaters back in 2016. However, the founding of PlayStation Pictures is to truly manifest hopes into reality.

This week, we witness the release of Tom Holland & Mark Wahlberg’s Uncharted hits the silver screen. After an ongoing shift of directors for half a decade, the production has officially arrived to theaters. From Sony Interactive Entertainment President & CEO Jim Ryan, he expresses that the motion picture alongside the TV series for The Last of Us is simply the start of a large roadmap.

When speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO CCO Casey Bloys explained that the production is still underway with filming and will proceed into post-production with the project slated to arrive next year.

“The Last of Us is shooting right now in Canada. We haven’t announced an air date yet. But it’s not 2022. They’re still shooting in Calgary.” In the past, it was reported that HBO would proceed with production in Canada alongside shots of the set and actors in the city at that time as well. Now, fans will await the first glimpse on the TV show with hopes a release date for the show will come too.

Recently, Naughty Dog celebrating The Last of Us decided to issue the first official glimpse at the show. From the back of both Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal posing both Ellie and Joel respectively, it illustrates to be an accurate portrayal of the video game series.
