HBO’s The Last Of Us Series Casts Bella Ramsey As Ellie & Pedro Pascal As Joel

Although Sony Interactive Entertainment’s attempts to bring its most namely entries to other avenues through the means of film and television, the venture has not made its way too apparent as a result. For one, the upcoming Uncharted film is still underway after more than a decade of internal complications. But, the motion picture just finished up its filming as of October 2020.

As for The Last of Us on HBO, the production is suggested to hit filming fairly soon. The television series was given the green light by HBO in November and is expected to begin full on production in the coming months. However, casting for the production has yet to be decided leaving many fans hungry to unearth who will be casted for the leading roles of Ellie and Joel from the popular video game series.

In a new string of reports from Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter respectively, it is revealed that Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal will both be casted for the major roles. The Game of Thrones star is said to take on the role of the young character while The Mandalorian star will pose as the protagonist from the first game.

“Set 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed, centers on the relationship between Joel, a smuggler in this new world, and Ellie, a teenager who may be the key to a cure for a deadly pandemic,” The Hollywood Reporter gives for the series’ synopsis. “Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle the 14-year-old girl out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.”

As per Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan, both the Naughty Dog television show and film are just the start of what will sprout from PlayStation Pictures. “This is just the beginning of the expansion of our storytelling into new media and even wider audiences,” he tells.
