It has been less than two years since the official release of IO Interactive’s Hitman 2 and the team has announced that the third installment for the rebooted series is now underway for current-generation and next-generation console this coming winter. Announced during the PlayStation 5 showcase, the reveal trailer shares glimpses of the game presumed to be rendered on PlayStation 5 hardware.
Sharing more details in a PlayStation Blog following the announcement, IO Interactive unveils that Hitman 3 will be the “dramatic conclusion” to the titular trilogy following in the shoes of Agent 47.
Hitman 3 will take you around the world to exotic and luxurious locations that are packed with creative opportunities. Your ultimate goal is to explore these meticulously crafted locales and figure out exactly how you want to eliminate your targets. You’ll have complete freedom to take disguises, create “accidents,” interact with other characters and blend into the crowd to watch your master plan unfold – or gloriously fail. That’s also part of the charm!

Fans of the series should already be familiar with the amount of replayability that the Hitman is notorious for and IO Interactive elaborates on the topic by guaranteeing that the same is expected for Hitman 3 when it releases later on. The team goes on by sharing that progression from the current Hitman 2 cam be carried over to the new title when it release later on.
What looks to be one of the few titles to break the chain – Hitman 3 has no limited exclusivity agreement with Sony to ship the third entry first on PlayStation 5. Regardless of that, it is cemented that Sony holds marketing rights for Hitman 3 this time around.
Are you excited for the final entry for the Hitman series?
Hitman 3 will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC sometime in January 2021.
