Since the announcement when Hitman would be receiving a reboot for the modern era back in the previous decade, the same shock & awe was met when the series would be concluding this month after a three game campaign for the rebranding of the property. However, developer IO Interactive is not completely finished with Hitman as it moves on to new projects.
Upon speaking with Game Informer recently, the game studio reveals that it is underway with new ambitions alongside the already announced Project 007. But, the team is not shelving Hitman for good says Chief Creative Officer Christian Everdam. “I think the world of the Assassination trilogy, because it will be a whole when you look at it; I think it’s super strong. I’m super proud of it. I’m super proud of what we achieved.
“That this is the first thing that we launch makes me feel really good and really comfortable about the future.” But for the last big hoorah for Hitman, for now, IO Interactive certainly faces a new level of support from its follower base. In a tweet made on Friday, the studio shares Hitman 3 received the “biggest digital launch in franchise history.”

Especially considering that Hitman 3 is the concluding entry for the rebooted series, the franchise leaves on a good note with the developer now transitioning to new properties. And rightly deserved – Hitman as a series and the core elements of the game both evolved over the duration from the first to the finishing third title.
If you still yet to play Hitman 3, we highly suggest you read our full review for the title. “This streamlining and carrying forward of the previous games is fantastic. Hitman 3 is both the best entry point in the series, while also being the climactic and exciting end of a great legacy for long time veteran players,” Rectify Gaming’s David Rodriguez writes for his experience with the game.
