For Sega, the firm most notable for IPs like Sonic the Hedgehog & Yakuza, it came as a surprise when it shared its new publishing deal with Drench developer Amplitude Studios on a new project – Humankind. An real-time strategy title exploring possibilities of running an empire is nothing unique, but its take on building your way to diplomacy is a path unlike the competition.
From our review for Humankind, critic David Rodriguez was left impressed at the state of the game at launch. “The love they have for classic 4X titles and Civilization is apparent, but they are also daring and take huge risks in changing the formula from the standard. The risks pay off, and Humankind is the best 4X title to hit the genre in several years.”
At Summer Game Fest this afternoon, Sega & Amplitude Studios revealed Humankind will be launching on console later this holiday. Similar to the PC version of the game already, the new console port will be coming to Xbox Game Pass when it releases. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:
“Humankind is Amplitude Studios’ magnum opus, a Historical Strategy game where you will re-write the entire narrative of humankind – a convergence of culture, history, and values that allows you to create a civilization that is as unique as you are. How far will you push Humankind ?” the overview for the console version reads from the official website.
Additionally, the ‘Heritage Edition’ of the game will come with the Cultures of Latin America Pack, Cultures of Africa Pack, and Notre-Dame Pack. Those that pre-order the game will also receive the Player Profile Decoration and Symbols Set & Avatar Sets and Player Icons as well. Are you excited for Humankind treading onto console?
Humankind launches November 4, 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
