Following the notorious Hyper Light Drifter, developer heart Machine is ready to finally spare details on its next upcoming project, Solar Ash. Announced during the recent PlayStation 5 showcase, we get a good look at the next action-explorer title. Alex Preston, Heart Machine head, shared in the announcement blog post that coming title goes on to expand the new workings of the team in contrast to its first title.
“Our second title, Solar Ash, has been about reflection and progress in many ways. Our ambitions are bigger and the team has grown to match. The story still remains personal, but evolves to be something beyond just the weight of the struggle into something more hopeful.”
You can watch the introductory trailer in the video below:
“The player journeys through the Ultravoid, a ravenous rift in space swallowing worlds. It’s a place of incredible danger and surreal spaces – a dream none can escape,” Preston elaborating on Solar Ash shared. “Familiar though alien, lush but grotesque, peaceful at times and supremely violent in others. Our characters must find solace in each other to make it through the spiral of despair they find themselves trapped in.”
Adding on, Preston discloses that Heart Machine has strived to create bigger and grander worlds and thanks to the PlayStation 5 will be capable of doing so with the ultra-fast, custom SSD for the next-generation console. In the trailer, Sony discloses that Solar Ash will be sold first on PlayStation hardware first alongside PC for a limited time. Xbox One/Xbox Series X players will have to wait it out for the respected port.
