Original:

Earlier on this year, IGN shared to be the first major gaming news outlet to be hosting its own online presentation to introduce new details on upcoming projects that would have been taking the stage at E3 this year. But due to the circumstances inflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event in Los Angeles has been canned for 2020. In spite of the upsetting news, IGN announced Summer of Gaming to be a replacement for players to get their income of gaming news for this coming summer.

The website has already confirmed that CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 will be a highlighted project to take the spotlight later on in the coming weeks, but now today the outlet has unleashed its coming plans for the first few weeks of June. Kicking off the event will be the IGN Expo showcase which will feature new gameplay demos, world premieres, and interviews with the teams involved.

Here is the full schedule illustrated starting on June 4th:

Throughout the course for the Summer of Gaming, IGN will be hosting speedruns of popular titles like Doom Eternal & Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom and orchestrating over a handful charity streams that will be going on all round the duration of the virtual event. The outlet also mentioned a slew of exciting first gameplay reveals for anticipated titles planning to ship later on.

Digging through the schedules pictured above, gameplay showcases for Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon, Observer: System Redux, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, Borderlands 3’s Bounty of Blood, Mafia: Definitive Edition, Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, and Scarlet Nexus. There is a bevy of other previews and showcases that will take place for games we have already witnessed previously as well.

Some interesting features that looks to be ones you’ll want to keep an eye out for is the IGN Icons that will hosted in the latter of the event where the outlet will speak with Doom creator John Romero and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic/Fallout: New Vegas writer Steve Avellone.
