In Less Than A Month, Cyberpunk 2077 Taps Into Steam’s Most Sold And Most Played List For 2020

While many fans are currently complaining about the state of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 – especially on the last-generation Xbox One & PlayStation 4 – that does not denounce the scale of excitement that led to the game’s release. Prior to discovering the issues at hand for the Polish developer’s latest release, Cyberpunk 2077 stood to be the definitive release for the newest console hardware.

But as we are well aware now, the game was not ready for the system preceding the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Additionally, the game is still plagued with bugs, glitches, and other hiccups which also dilute player experience when attempting to immerse themselves in the world of Night City. But again, the scope to what tailed the game overthrows any other to date.

Already, CD Projekt Red issued a report which revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 already sold 13 million units – even after the influx of returns established in post-launch. But now, Valve reveals Cyberpunk 2077 stood among other anticipated releases for 2020 as one of the most sold and most played entries this year.

Here is the full list of games categorized in Steam’s “Platinum” bracket for highest sold games for this year:

Among Us
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Cyberpunk 2077
Destiny 2
Doom Eternal
DOTA 2
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout
Grand Theft Auto V
Monster Hunter World
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
Rainbow Six Siege
Red Dead Redemption II

Given the circumstance that Cyberpunk 2077 only released in the last three weeks of 2020, it is truly outstanding to witness the game still earn its way to becoming one of the most influential releases in such a short amount of time. Even with the amount of problematic findings that were uncovered in its release, Cyberpunk 2077 continues to still shine unlike what many paint the game to be entering the new year.

In reality, it comes to be an even bigger discovery for Cyberpunk 2077 when it was revealed a save data cap was shipped with the base game which corrupted player progression after exceeding 8 MB. However, it took CD Projekt Red nearly two weeks before applying a hotfix which removed the issue for PC players.
