Insomniac Games Answers To Potential Venom Spin-Off By “Listening To The Fans”

This past week, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 officially shipped. Our review goes on to say: “If you are new to PlayStation, a disabled player looking for a blockbuster they can fully experience, or a returning fan, playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is an absolute no-brainer and its easily one of my favorite open world games I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing for myself. Fully and without compromise, it really does feel like it was designed for everybody.” Even giving the game a score of 9.5/10.

Beyond that, the series is also finding new heights in its first week as well. Within the first day, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has sold more than 2.5 million units. Sony Interactive Entertainment has spared that this is the biggest achievement for any first-party release for PlayStation. Now entertaining what is to continue this momentum, it was confirmed previously that a Wolverine spin-off title is already in the pipeline.

Regarding other directions that could be on the radar, Insomniac Games did press it is considering a Venom spin-off title – similar to the response players asked which then became Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Speaking to Insider, senior narrative director Jon Paquette says:

“So, here’s what we’re doing. We’re focused on ‘Spider-Man 2,’ and what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna wait to see how the fans react. We’re gonna listen to the fans and we’re gonna ask ourselves, ‘Okay, what do the fans really want?’ We’ll kind of talk about stuff after we’ve all had time to sleep and take vacations.”

Paquette did continue by elaborating that much of the team responsible for the story for the newest game sourced it from Secret Wars which could play as a catalyst for the hypothetical Venom spin-off. “There’s such a rich universe there, and there’s a lot that the comics have done. We tried to take all that in, and then forget about it, and think about what would be best for our characters and our franchise,”

What is your thoughts on Venom possibly receiving its own game?
