Although a couple weeks are already behind us since the release for Hitman 3, it only took the game a few days to meet a new milestone. It was on Twitter that developer IO Interactive spared the release of the concluding entry for the Assassination Trilogy that the game happened to be the “biggest digital launch in franchise history,” the tweet reads.

Even more, our very own Rectify Gaming Review Editor David Rodriguez tells that his time playing Hitman 3 is ‘The Perfect Hit. “Despite over two decades of sequels, reboots, successes and failures, IOI has truly perfected a vision of stealth and open ended sandbox gameplay with Hitman 3,” Rodriguez issues in his review for Hitman 3 earlier this month.

Now in a new report from The Gamer, the outlet when speaking to IO Interactive learn that the Swedish developer is not completely finished with Hitman. Although the team plans to proceed with DLC for Hitman 3, there is certainly more Agent 47 in the future.

We’re continuously working on Hitman so we are already looking to the future. We are definitely going to be doing some DLC, but we haven’t defined what that is.

Forest Swartout Large, IO Interactive Executive Producer

In the same interview, Large continue by stating that: “I think for now we are not looking at new maps like the bank and the island.” He continues, “We’re more looking at using existing locations and reimagining them, twisting them. And this time around, we can use the whole trilogy. We can look back at Hitman 2016 maps, Hitman 2 maps – we have all the locations.”

This certainly is not the first time that IO Interactive referenced a return to its most notable franchise. In a pre-launch interview with Chief Creative Officer Christian Everdam by Game Informer, he discloses that the IO Interactive is comfortable with what the future holds in regards to Hitman later on.

Upon looking ahead for the future for IO Interactive, it is suggested that the studio is preparing to make more than one game out of its coming Project 007. In that, the team plans to structure a full on trilogy for the approaching James Bond series. You can read the full report by heading here.

Do you hope more Hitman games will ship in the future?
