After years of development, Bethesda is planning to launch Starfield on September 6, 2023. The action role-playing game was initially announced at Bethesda’s E3 2018 presentation. Originally, Starfield was planned to launch for PlayStation, Xbox and PC, but that changed once Microsoft acquired Bethesda. Many now wonder if Starfield is coming to PlayStation 5.
Now that Bethesda is part of the Xbox Game Studios family it’s now more likely that brand new AAA games coming from Bethesda will be console exclusive to Xbox. Starfield won’t be releasing on PlayStation 5 and will be a console exclusive to Xbox Series XlS.
Originally, Sony was going to have Starfield as an exclusive to PlayStation. Once Microsoft heard that was a possibility, they acquired the company for $7.5 Billion. You can pre-order Starfield on Steam and your local retailers for Xbox Series XlS.
It was confirmed that Starfield will be running at 4K 30fps on Xbox Series XlS while PC versions can do 4K 60fps. The news of that raised some concern based on what happened with Redfall which was another Bethesda release. Todd Howard confirmed via an interview that post-launch for Starfield will have a major story expansion.
Starfield will have a couple editions for fans to choose from with the Constellation Edition, Standard Edition, Digital Premium Edition and the Premium Edition Upgrade. Starfield will be coming to Xbox Game Pass the day it releases.
