Ubisoft’s free-to-play first-person shooter has been released worldwide for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. It is Ubisoft’s first game to compete with popular titles like Call of Duty, drawing inspiration from their other games such as Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, and The Division for its character and map designs.
While XDefiant has been released for PC, it is not available on Steam, which is the most popular gaming platform for PC. Instead, it is available through Ubisoft Connect. For PC players, Ubisoft Connect is the only platform where the game can be played for now.
Knowing Ubisoft’s past, there is a very good chance we will see XDefiant on Steam in the future. We have seen multiplayer titles like Rainbow Six Siege and The Division make their way to the platform. Even if you play the new title from Ubisoft San Francisco on Xbox or PlayStation you’ll still need to link a Ubisoft Connect account for in-game rewards.
Although it’s not available on Valve’s platform, XDefiant reached over 1 million players within its first 3 hours of release on May 21, 2024. That is a great sign for a game that seemed to have technical issues in development which held its release back for over a year. In its first year, XDefiant will have four seasons bringing in a lot of content for players.
