Jim Carrey is returning for Sonic the Hedgehog 3

The Sonic the Hedgehog films have become a great success and this year we will see Sonic 3 hit the theaters on December 20, 2024. While Shadow the Hedgehog will be appearing in the film, the previous cast will be returning including Jim Carrey.

It was announced via Variety that Jim Carrey who plays Dr. Robotnik will be returning for another sequel. This may come as a surprise to some as Carrey doesn’t usually appear in sequels and if you remember from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Dr. Robotnik fell to the ground from a giant robot and his body has not been discovered setting up a sizeable return.

Aside from the exclusive news from the outlet, the official Sonic the Hedgehog social media account posted a teaser that includes Jim Carrey’s evil laugh:

The voice actor for Shadow has yet to be announced, but all rumors lead to Hayden Christensen being the official voice of the hedgehog.
