Latest Hotfix For Cyberpunk 2077 Removes 8 MB File Size Limit On PC & Minimizes Crashes On Console

For the amount of drama and controversy that continues to tail behind the release of Cyberpunk 2077, the majority of those issues are relevant to the console portion of the game’s launch. However, the PC version while the best iteration to experience the game on is certainly not flawless. It was discovered last week that exceeding a save file size of 8 MB will result with the client rejecting the file and essentially corrupting your progress permanently.

However, there are ways to avoid this issue. Players if cautious can avoid the permanent obstacle by watching their crafting, being explicit on what they use their playtime towards, and always updating a backup save if the problem finally presents itself. However, it took only a handful of days before CD Projekt Red finally resolved the issue at hand.

In new Hotfix 1.06 that was administered on Wednesday, players on PC should no longer fear of hitting the 8 MB file size limit. Altogether, the Polish developer removed the retainer so save files can grow organically. Here is the full list of adjustments shared in the post:

Quests
Dum Dum will no longer go missing from Totentanz entrance during Second Conflict.

Console-specific
Improved memory management and stability, resulting in fewer crashes.

PC-specific
Removed the 8 MB save file limit. Note: this won’t fix save files corrupted before the update.

As clarified in the notes for the hotfix, CD Projekt Red goes on to issue that those already fallen victim to the 8 MB save file limit will not find a cure for their corrupted files. The resolution on prevents the bug from occurring further and will not fix already corrupted clients. On console, players will face less crashes as it is apparent on retail systems regardless of the generation.

As for other news that broke out recently in regards to Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red told that the game already overtook 13 million copies sold. It is explained that the factor is accounted for following the number of returns issued as well. You can read the full report by heading here.
