For many, the concept of Until Dawn returning in some capacity was hard to conceive as happening. So when PlayStation revealed a Unreal Engine 5 remaster would be coming this October, fans were excited to see what the game had to offer. And with anticipation building, fans also learned via insiders that a sequel is reportedly greenlit internally at PlayStation Studios too.
Horizon: Call of the Mountains developer Firesprite Games is told to be the team helming the project. What’s more, a live-action film is also on the way for the series as well. David F. Sandberg (Lights Out, Annabelle: Creation) is to direct the Supermassive Games film. This week, Sandberg revealed that filming has officially completed for the Until Dawn movie.
Now following the first week of Until Dawn releasing, tracking the engagement for sales on PlayStation reveals that Until Dawn is performing worse than PlayStation’s biggest disappointment for 2024. According to TrueTrophies, Until Dawn has lesser sales than the now-shuttered release Concord.
As per it own means and through other avenues supported by GameInsights, Until Dawn has sold 28.6 percent less than Concord did in the same window. Even more, the numbers show to be even worse than compared to The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. TrueTrophies calculated that the sales numbers are about 98.5 percent less than the remaster of the 2020 title.
To add more perspective, TrueTrophies also put the gathered information against Astro Bot as well. And on PlayStation 5 Until Dawn still faced 95.5 percent fewer than the new platformer as well. It was revealed that this data was generated from a collected pool of 3.1 million active users on PlayStation Network to determine the output from consumers.
